At the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), we are dedicated to championing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by integrating sustainable practices across our core activities. Through innovative research initiatives supported by grants, we aim to address pressing oral health challenges in alignment with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Our faculty is committed to securing research funding that drives advancements in oral health equity, preventive care, and sustainable healthcare solutions.

In our teaching endeavors, we embed SDG principles into our curriculum to equip the next generation of dental professionals with the knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the SDGs. By fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and social responsibility in our teaching practices, we prepare our students to address global health disparities, promote sustainable healthcare practices, and advocate for inclusive oral health services in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

Moreover, our commitment to sustainability extends to the management of clinical waste at our faculty. We prioritize eco-friendly practices and waste reduction strategies to minimize our environmental impact and promote responsible resource management in accordance with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By implementing efficient waste segregation protocols and promoting recycling initiatives, we contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment for our local community and beyond.

Furthermore, through our community engagement programs, we actively collaborate with local stakeholders to address oral health disparities, promote health education, and empower underserved populations. Our outreach efforts aim to enhance access to quality oral healthcare services, particularly among marginalized communities, aligning with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). By engaging with the community, we strive to create sustainable health programs that foster long-term positive impacts and support the broader SDG agenda.

Together, at the Faculty of Dentistry, UKM, we are dedicated to advancing the SDGs through our research, teaching, clinical practices, and community initiatives. By integrating sustainability into all facets of our work, we seek to make a meaningful contribution to a more equitable, healthy, and sustainable world for all.
